Cardboard Preparation

Rustic gift box is mainly made of natural-textured papers such as kraft paper, textured art paper, and vintage corrugated board. These papers are highly hygroscopic and prone to deformation and warping. Before gluing, make sure the cardboard is dry and flat, remove any damp, wrinkled or damaged sheets, and pre-fold along the crease lines for easier forming. Also clean away paper scraps, dust and impurities on the bonding surfaces to prevent blistering or peeling during adhesion, ensuring the base structure of the box is neat and sturdy.

Adhesive Selection and Application Standards

Use eco-friendly adhesives such as water-based box glue or woodworking PVA glue according to paper characteristics. Avoid strong adhesives that tend to yellow or seep through the paper. Apply the adhesive evenly; slightly increase the amount for textured paper, but control it on edges to avoid contaminating decorations like hemp rope, wood-grain prints and linen patches. Make sure there is no missing application, as it may cause poor bonding or later peeling.

Positioning, Gluing and Pressing Fixing

Align the crease lines and notches accurately during gluing, keep the four sides symmetrical and corners at right angles to avoid misalignment, tilting or excessive gaps. Assemble immediately after applying adhesive, and press the sides, bottom corners and locking areas evenly with a roller or press fixture to prevent the cardboard from springing back. This step is key to keeping the rustic gift box in stable and standard shape. Leave the boxes flat until the adhesive is fully cured before stacking, so the box shape remains firm without deformation.

Installation Order of Decorative Parts

Follow the principle of "glue the box body first, then decorate". After the main structure is fully fixed, attach accessories such as hemp rope, wooden tags, dried flowers and ribbons. Attaching decorations too early may result in misalignment, glue contamination or scratches during gluing. Fix these parts with spot gluing instead of full coverage to maintain the natural, rustic feel.

Working Environment and Finished Product Protection

Keep the gluing workshop well-ventilated and dry, away from moisture, low temperature and dust, as these will delay adhesive curing and soften the paper. During storage, do not apply heavy pressure, rub or impact the finished boxes. Protect the surfaces properly to reduce glue marks, scratches and discoloration, maintaining a neat and beautiful finish for the rustic gift box.https://www.heyuprinting.com/color-box/gift-box/portable-gift-box.html
